Here we grow...
Our day in Fantastics--
*wake up sheets-revisit academic concepts or a puzzle sheet
*morning message-greeting-sharing-class talk (concerns and thanks) activity (poem, song, game)
*calendar-routine and learning week, month, place value, ten frame, tallies...
*centers-for reinforcement and instruction-group and individual activities-allows for a variety of learning styles and differentiation
*a special area class each day-such as gym, art, music, library, and computers
*science, social studies and health are interspersed within centers and also can be separate units of study
*we write daily in writers workshop and in math, science...
*reading- some of the resources to teach reading are leveled reading books, big books, fiction and non-fiction books, wordless books, and books on tape... yes to phonics for a solid beginning- instruction may be whole group, small group or one on one- literacy activities are included in art projects, dramatic play, working with our 4th grade buddies, and other areas throughout the day
*math-we are the foundation of the Everyday Math Program that is used K-5 in Ann Arbor-learning through doing!
*exploration and discovery- inside and outside the classroom- many adventures in Eberwhite Woods, our sunshine corner goes from a kitchen to a restaurant to a doctor's office to a puppet theater...lots of singing, dancing, and other creative outlets
*school skills and life skills taught throughout the day in a safe and caring environment
